Game of Thrones Craze

Image
Game of Thrones Season 8 ep 3, aired this past Sunday. It was the longest episode of the series coming in at 82 minutes of the longest battle in TV history. This was the craziest battle because it was between the living and the dead. I was on the edge of my seat, sweating for the whole episode. Twitter, Facebook and Instagram went crazy with memes after the episode. The GOT fan club on social media creates this community that anyone can be apart of. I love being able to understand the posts. I honestly feel bad for people that don't watch the show because their feed had to be blowing up. The rate at which posts circulate is insane and it's thanks to how easy and convenient social media is to use.

Sherry Turkle's TED Talk

I just watched Sherry Turkle's TED Talk and I have some thoughts. I thought her talk really opened my eyes about how addicted everyone is to their phones. She talked about how people text and check emails and online shop during classes, meetings and presentations. Not going to lie, I'm guilty of this. I'll be watching TV and scrolling through Twitter, Instagram or shopping on Amazon at the same. I then realize I missed a whole episode and then I'm shocked that I just sat on my phone for a whole hour and didn't realize it. Sherry included a picture of her daughter and her friends all sitting next to each other and all looking down at their phones. "They're together but not actually together." What a wild thing. I know when to not be on my phone and when appropriate times are OK to be on it. I don't think everyone knows that boundary and it's becoming a huge issue in society.

Google Takeover?

Image
I use Google for everything, at least 10 times a day. I recently just watched Game of Thrones for the first time and I googled information about the different characters and houses almost every episode. I use Google docs and Google slides for almost all of my school assignments. I guess its fair to say Google is very present in my life. I don't know if I would say Google is going to endanger our privacy, I feel like there's still some boundaries but in the world of Google, you can find almost anything. I think it is a little freaky how you can google your name and find countless of information about yourself. The switch from, "Don't be evil," to, "Do the right thing," is a little crazy. It's almost as if Google didn't want that reputation of saying don't be evil while they kind of are. Google is everywhere. It's not going anywhere. I found this article  about 15 reasons why Google is taking over and I found it pretty interesting. Num

Review of Interview

I chose to read the interview with Trine-Maria Kristensen I thought Trine-Marie's responses were so interesting because she really went under the surface. When asked why she started her blog, she said she read other blogs and broke them down as if she was cracking a code. This stuck out to me because it was a good tip for being successful in blogging. I think the response about writing to provoke a reaction was cool to read about. Trine-Marie said she tries not to be negative but will still call organizations out on things she doesn't agree with. Trine-Marie said, "A human voice," makes a good blog. This was interesting because over the internet its hard to give someone a real look into what you are like in person. Speaking your mind and voicing your opinion is important to do to gain a supportive audience.
